Ultherapy (HIFU) vs Morpheus8 (RF Microneedling). Which technology is best for you?
Do you have loose skin around your neck? Two of the best technological modalities available on the market today are High Frequency Focused Utrasound (HIFU) and Radio Frequency (RF) Microneedling, commonly referred to under brand names of manufacturers such as Ultherapy and Morpheus8 although other brands exist with these technologies. Both technologies are highly effective treatments for tightening skin around the neck and chin. Not sure which to choose? We’d love for you to come in for a personal consultation so we can design a treatment plan that meets your exact needs and goals.
To better understand your options and find the best skin tightening treatment for you, here are the main differences between HIFU and RF Microneedling.
High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU)
This non-invasive, FDA-cleared procedure lifts sagging skin on the brow, face, neck, under the chin or décolletage using ultrasound energy, tightening the skin’s deep foundational layers to achieve skin rejuvenation results. While a HIFU “uplift” cannot replace a “facelift,” it’s an ideal choice for patients not ready to commit to cosmetic surgery, but who still want noticeable and natural-looking skin tightening results. Plus, there’s no recovery or downtime and the procedure is much less painful. Results will appear gradually over the three months post-procedure, as your skin regains a youthful contour and elasticity.
RF Microneedling
Combining microneedling with powerful radiofrequency (RF) energy is the most advanced, deeply penetrating microneedling treatment in the industry. It goes deep within to remodel tissue and dramatically improve the texture and tone of skin. With RF Microneedling, smoothing rough texture, tightening lax skin and trimming small fat pockets are all achievable with minimal downtime. It helps improve the appearance of acne scars, lines and wrinkles, crepey neck skin (yes, that dreaded turkey neck), sagging chin, uneven tone and more. For optimal results, we recommend a series of three to four treatments, administered over the course of several months.
Which is the best option for me?
Whichever treatment is most fitting for you, know that both HIFU and RF Microneedling are ideal for tightening skin and stimulating new collagen and elastin growth to reveal a more youthful you. It comes down to your unique needs and goals. HIFU is non-invasive and uses ultrasound energy to stimulate skin, while Morpheus8 creates tiny wounds with microneedles and uses radiofrequency energy to stimulate skin. Overall, if you’re looking to address textural concerns, RF microneedling may be the way to go. If you prefer a subtle and gradual overall lift to your targeted area, HIFU may be the more ideal technology for you.
Keep in mind that a combination approach is another effective option! You may achieve your best results by undergoing both HIFU and RF Microneedling (at separate appointments) to rejuvenate your skin at multiple levels and with diverse modalities for a synergistic boost of skin revitalization.
